Google Books Lawsuit

I thought that this article was interesting, as it is an example of how hard it is for our judicial system to keep up with copyright law concerning technology. With the legal mess that we had with Napster and the music industry, I wonder to what extent they will "make an example" of Google. I personally hope they are not able to stop Google's ambition to digitizing and indexing everything that can be, as this can serve a lot of good in society; but i realize how mad I would be if I was an author of an out of print book and I found it one day for free on the internet. I thought that the "opt out" idea for the settlement was good, but it would have been better to not leave it up to Google to contact these people (just a little conflict of interest). I am just waiting for the day we could all purchase half priced digital versions of our text books.
